In spite of all efforts to prevent them, fire ants have recently arrived in Southern California.
A small colony of fire ants just
getting started in the edge of my lawn. There are a few ants in the
picture, but they are not easy to see.
Here is a well established colony at the base of a utility pole.
By placing masking tape, sticky side up, next to the ant hill, some
of the ants were immobilized for easier examination.
