Two-Stabbed Ladybird

Convergent Lady Beetle, Hippodamia convergens One of the ladybug beetles (a.k.a. ladybird beetles, lady beetles) in our area is the two-stabbed ladybird.  This species is easily recognized, being solid black with a blood red spot on each wing cover.  The two-stabbed ladybird was imported because it feeds on insect pests such as aphids and scale insects. 
Some other ladybugs are,
convergent ladybug, mealybug destroyer, and multicolored  Asian lady beetle.
