One of
the ladybug beetles (a.k.a. ladybird beetles, lady
beetles) in our area is the two-stabbed ladybird. This species is
easily recognized, being solid black with a blood red spot on each wing
cover. The two-stabbed ladybird was imported because it feeds on
insect pests such as aphids and scale insects.
Some other ladybugs are, convergent
ladybug, mealybug destroyer,
and multicolored
Asian lady beetle.
