The purple scale is one of the more serious threats to my
tangelo tree. One
year there was a heavy infestation. Now the imported preditors of
the imported scale are keeping holding the infestation to a tolerable
level.
This shows a heavy infestation of purple scale on a young
twig. It can be bad enough to cause twigs to die back.
This is a view through a magnifying glass. The female
is larger and broader than the male purple scale.
