The books all
say that
dragonflies
are found near water. But they also patrol lawns and parking
lots.
Even a small lawn far from the nearest pond may attract
dragonflies
occasionally. It is difficult to get good pictures of dragonflies
in
flight. This red skimmer cooperated by resting on a trellis for
an
unusually long time. Seen end on, the wings don't really show,
but
their shadow is sharp and clear.
