A colony of
brown citrus aphids under attack by
aphid killer wasps. The wasp
will insert its egg into the body of the aphid. When the adult
emerges from its pupa, it will cut a trap door in the dead shell of the
aphid.
This wasp
assumed this position several times as I watched. Maybe it was
cleaning its ovipositor. This year was the first time I found
aphids on my tangelo
tree. I was happy to see the wasps.
